"I had a good day yesterday at school so this morning I went down to the river. The Danube River flows through my hometown and my dreams of seeing and exploring all those amazing cities of Europe are closer to me now than ever so I went down to the river and wrote this:"
'Danube, you were born in the Black Forest in faraway Germany, and you travel 2,860 kilometers to the Black Sea, and you pass right by me each day on your journey. You are my magical river, my beautiful Danube, my good Blue because you bring me hope of seeing and loving what you get to see every day - other magical cities, other beautiful places, other loving people.
Danube, my dear friend, you get to flow through 10 different countries and dozens of famous cities and villages that I’ve never seen. You don’t care about borders and boundaries; you stay focused on your mission, you just keep happily drifting by me and everyone else who needs you. You glide along wistfully to merge, to blend your tears and disappear into the sea. Everyday. No complaints, no regrets, no going backwards.
I sit here and watch you and know that your water has been blessed at Ulm and Vienna and Bratislava and Budapest and Belgrade and now blessing me here in Drobeta-Turnu Severin.
I will always remember and love you my friend, my Danube, my beautiful Blue. I was a little girl to know you back then and now a teenager in a fast moving world. Your waters flowing by me here at sunrise will soon become one with the sea because by sunset you will have your engagement party in the Danube Delta and then you will be married to the Black Sea.
I love you Blue. Have a good day.'
"My teacher said that "no one ever steps in the same river twice. Why? Because it is never the same river and we are never the same person.''
